FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
ASC BARS 11 FROM SECURITIES INDUSTRY
MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA (May 31, 2001) Joseph P. Borg,
Director of the Alabama Securities Commission, announced today that the Alabama
Securities Commission has barred 11 stockbrokers from engaging in securities
activities into, within or from the state of Alabama. Mr. Borg said, "This is the tail-end result of a multi-state
operation, which investigated the brokerage house of Myers Pollock Robbins
(MPR) headquartered out of New York City with offices in Colorado, Florida, and
Massachusetts. The Alabama Securities
Commission was proud to be the lead agency in the North American Securities
Administrators Association (NASAA) task force, an organization of state
securities regulators, in building this two-year long fraud case in conjunction
with the New York City District Attorney’s office. We are also proud of the professionalism and expertise shown by
our investigative personnel and the personnel, who participated on the task
force of 10 other states to prepare the case, which led to the prosecution and
conviction of the Myers Pollock Robbins representatives."
For the protection of citizens of Alabama, the
following people who were previous employees of MPR, are barred from the
securities industry in Alabama. These
individuals previously conducted illegal securities activities. They were indicted in New York, NY for one
or more securities criminal violations and received additional convictions in
crimes such as enterprise corruption, scheme to defraud, grand larceny, falsifying
business records, tampering with physical evidence, disseminating false and
misleading promotional and "research" materiel, and use of false and
misleading sales pitches to convince customers to buy stocks.
